Reflections

Recently, while I was enduring a food-poisoning-triggered not-so-great day, a surprising feeling washed over me: gratitude.

In the midst of my discomfort, I found immediate comfort in knowing:

  • The pain would eventually pass.
  • My body was protecting me by expelling harmful substances.
  • I had informed three people about my condition, ensuring I had support if needed. One of them called back a few times later that day to check up on me.

My body drew my brain into survival mode, where all else became unimportant. I had done some work that day and was looking to do more, until my body protected me.

This experience reinforced the important of finding the good, even in challenging situations. It reminded me to appreciate my body’s resilience and the value of having a support system.

Precarious Moments and Realizations

Challenging times can lead to important realizations and motivate actions. For me, a few things became clear:

  • Support Network: The importance of having a reliable support network hit home. This is something I plan to maintain as I relocate to Germany.
  • Health Insurance: This incident underscored the urgency of sorting out health insurance before relocating. Ensuring I have proper coverage is now a top priority.
Reflecting on moments of gratitude can be a powerful practice.
What challenges have made you feel unexpectedly grateful?
